The Bukowski charcoal-grilled burger has arrived in Shoreditch. We serve up the classics alongside burgers with a twist. You’ll find your traditional cheeseburger next to the Cochinita Pibil Pulled Pork special and the Hanger Steak & Chipotle sauce sandwich on our menu. Wash them down with lashings of homemade lemonade, bottomless coffee or our favourite Hopdaemon beers.

Sourcing our meats and produce ethically, we bring the very best ingredients together in the fierce flames of the Josper. The Josper is an enclosed, charcoal-fired oven- grill, with record cooking times. Its blitzing heat seals in the flavour and juices of our premium quality meats.

The Bukowski Grill is a joint venture between fine dining chef Robin Freeman and kitchen-veteran-turned-entrepreneur Alberto Figueroa. Our very first operation is located in a shipping container pop-up mall in Shoreditch, London.

  1. Since Bukowski opened we have been back 3 times, wanted to go back loads more and will be there later today as well as later on this week.

Why returning again and again? That’s soooo easy to answer.

Memorable Burgers, moreish triple cooked chips, fab service, small and intimate space with lovely smoked wood smells. The coffee (Volcano) is bottomless. On the first occasion we visited coffee was accompanied by darling little brownies. Home-made condiments are on every table so that the adult amongst us can season our own food (mostly not needed).

I just want to go on, and on, and on raving about this lovely establishment because it would appear that there is a vendetta of sorts being waged against it. (Un)professional jealousy???? Unfair reviews during the soft opening.

    Whatever.

Speak to those who have actually been (and who don’t feel the need to blog about every morsel they partake in; and the story is very different viz. Very good average ratings.

Listen, I wasn’t hugely taken with the flavour of the steak I had there (too beery / malty) but I realise that was a taste preference not a failing in the kitchen’s prowess. (My eating partner adored his steak.)

May this establishment thrive and continue to serve those who appreciate her in all her quirkiness. Bah to the overly negative reviewers who should stay far away so that I dabs one of the only 16 places.

  2. Are you named after the author Charles Bukowski or did you pick the name randomly?

  3. Burgers are very “now” but Burgers are timeless.. They may be hip at the moment but when were they not? There are many Burger blogs out there crowning Lucky Chip as the best, blah, blah, blah – for me, there is no doubting that Bukowski, when they do it right are the best in town. The Burgers are amazing – The chips are the best i have ever had, the beer menu is great and the service is always good. If you like Burgers, do yourself a favour, go to Bukowski have a Purist with large chips and a Green Demon and feel smug about how good you have got it.
